Yarn Bases

This base makes for  a hard wearing sock yarn made from a soft merino/nylon blend , 80/20.  The look is identical to our 100% merino sock yarn,  which means it’s squishy and with the identical twist.   A generous 400 yards, 100 grams, 7-8 stitches to the inch.  Superwash.

This is a beautiful, 100% merino, 8 ply sport weight that is round in shape.  I love this yarn for its awesome stitch definition.  It is perfect for garments,  more substantial  lace projects, and broad variety of wearable art limited only by your imagination.  It is a real delight to work with.  275 yards,  approx. 100 grams, 6-7 stitches to the inch. Superwash.

This fiber is named after the diamonds in the night sky. This exquisite yarn is fingering weight, 400 yards, 63% fine Merino wool, 20% silk, 15% nylon, and 2% Genuine Sterling Silver. This is the softest ever – you would think that with the silver in there you would be feeling something rough, but you can’t feel anything but the wonderful silk. I can recommend this fingering weight yarn for shawls – can you imagine how beautiful! Fabulous!

This beautiful Donegal fiber is bulletproof 85% BFL and 15% nep of black and dark brown fibers.  A lovely, lovely yarn perfect for guy socks and more rustic apparel as it is not as soft as it’s merino counterpart.  It is truly drop dead gorgeous!  435 yards 100 grams US 1-2.50

Like Rune, but Very High Twist, our  new Rocket is an  80/10/10 Merino, Cashmere, Nylon sock yarn.  This is my all time personal favorite for luxury socks and for fingering weight lace projects.  I think it's difficult to find a softer fingering weight.  An exquisite fiber that is very soft to the touch, warm, strong and durable.  Each skein is fingering weight, 400 yards, 100 grams,  7-8 stitches per inch on US size 1 – 2 needles.  Note:  Because of the cashmere content which lends itself to greater warmth, it does have a tendency to develop a bit of a halo in socks.

This yarn is the same gorgeous luxury yarn as regular Rocket, but with 600 yards.  PERFECT for those big lace and garment projects.  Same high twist and softness because of the 80/10/10 fiber composition of merino, cashmere, and nylon. Warm, strong and durable.  150 grams 7-8 stitches /inch on US size 1-2 needles.

Because of the type of wash that is used, this yarn is slightly scented.  Please contact me if you need an unscented order.

Named after the dog star constellation in the night sky.  But I tend to think of it as SERIOUS sock yarn.   Our fingering weight sock yarn is 100% fine Merino wool.  Because of the tighter twist, it has great elasticity and feels springy to the touch and very soft.  In fact, there is a sheen to this yarn that almost says that there is something else in there besides just wool.  Each skein is  a generous 400 yards, plenty to do a large size pair of socks.  7-8 stitches per inch.

These are made from the same wonderful high twist fiber as the Achilles, which is 80%/20% fine merino and nylon.  Two mini skeins, 200 yards each, 50 grams.
