Hello there! I'm Suzan O' Brien, owner of Barking Dog Yarns. I opened for business in 2005, after years of working in the corporate world. Eager for a change, one day I hand dyed some yarn, threw it in the car, and sold the whole lot to a single retail establishment. At that point, I knew I hadn't lost my creative touch and decided to share my gift for color and fiber with others through my own business. My goal is to produce hand dyed yarns that I, myself, would want to knit with. This ensures the quality of yarns I provide for my customers.
When I'm not creating beautiful fibers, I enjoy riding my motorcycle. I've been riding for 45 years. At 63 years old, I still have many destinations I'd like to visit via motorcycle, before I'm no longer able to throw my leg over the chassis and zoom (if I could pack up my bike and ride until I die, I'd do it tomorrow). In the meantime, me and the kitchen sink will continue to hand dye stunning fibers to enhance the yarn crafting experience of knitters and crocheters!
